July Opens On NSE -ASI With 0.5% Bullish Gains

The domestic bourse started the new month of July with 0.47 percent growth in both equities market capitalization and the NSE All Share-Index.
Midweek, investors polled a total volume of 198,011,937.00 million shares, worth N1, 036,449,725.80 billion, transacted in 3,772.00 deals.
Rebounds in BUACEMENT by 8.5 percent and WAPCO by +5.0 percent triggered midweek’s gain in ASI by 0.47 percent to 24,594.99 and market capitalization to N12, 830,232,663,881.84 trillion. Subsequently, the Year-to-Date loss moderated to -8.4 percent.
The total volume posted midweek, when compared with Tuesday’s data, declined by 29.45 percent to 198.01 million shares, value also dipped by 66.98 percent to N1,03 billion, while deals also declined by 15.50 percent to 3,772.
Analyzing sectors, the NSE Banking index dropped by 0.9 percent, NSE Insurance Index by -0.8 percent, and Consumer Goods index by -0.5per cent, while the NSE Industrial Goods index gained 1.4 percent and the NSE Oil & Gas index by +0.3 percent.
Market sentiment, as measured by market breadth, was negative by 0.5x, as 22 tickers declined, relative to 12 gainers.
BOND capitulation closed the day at N14, 685,450,061,207.30 trillion, while ETF Capitalization closed at N13, 912,590,276.18 billion.
BUACEMENT which led the decliners chart on Tuesday, reversed its losing trend midweek to emerge as the highest gainer with N3.3 or 8.53 percent growth in share price, to close the first trading session of the month at N42.00 per share.
CADBURY followed with growth by N0.65 or 9.63 percent, to end the day at N7.4 per share, while WAPCO, as the third-best gainer appreciated by N0.5 or 5.00 percent, to close midweek at N10.5 per share.
STERLNBANK closed as the fourth on the top gainers chart, having grown in share value by N0.12 or 9.60 percent, ending the day at N1.37 per share, while PZ closed the top five gainers chart at N4.1 per share, following growth by N0.1 or 2.50 percent.
MTNN led the declines by 1.28 percent or N1.5, to end the session at N116 per share. GUINNESS followed with N0.5 or 3.45 percent growth, to end the day at N14 per share, while ZENITH BANK as the third on the top losers chart declined by N0.4 or 2.48 percent, ending the day at N15.7 per share.
FLOUR MILL closed the day as the fourth on the decliners chart with N0.35 or 1.84 percent decline, ending the day at N18.65 per share., while DANGSUGAR closed the top five losers chart at N11.7 per share, following a decline by N0.3 or 2.50 percent.
WAPIC opened the month of July as the most active stock with 30,278,476 million shares turnover worth N11,196,354.35 million, followed by UPDCREIT with 22,787,749milion shares worth N79,677,064.85 million and UBA as the third most active with 20,201,961million shares worth N123,511,650.25 million.
TRANSCORP closed as the fourth in the activity chart with 19,380,186 million shares worth N12, 758,260.70 million, while CHAMS closed the top five most active stocks chart with 11,653,751million shares worth N2, 589,376.79 million.
It will be recalled that investors on the Nigerian bourse closed the last trading session in June with N198 million decline in their investment value, as profit-taking sentiment prevailed.
