Kwara Partners Carepay For Universal Health Coverage

Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq, on Thursday said the State Health Insurance Scheme will provide all residents of access to affordable healthcare services.
He said that the State was partnering with CarePay for the universal health coverage
He added that the launch of Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme demonstrated his government’s commitment to universal health coverage which guarantees that all people and communities in Kwara have access to promotive, preventive, curative, rehabilitative and palliative health services they need, and of sufficient quality to be effective.
He disclosed that the state government will ensure financing is not a barrier to access to care and that the use of these services does not expose the users to financial hardship.
The Executive Secretary, Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Bunmi Jetawo-Winter, explained that the scheme was being implemented to ensure that universal health coverage goals of access, quality and financial protection are achieved in the state.
She further explained that the scheme is entirely digital from registration, access to care and payment of providers enabled by partnerships with leading local and international digital health and payment service providers.
The Executive Chairman, CarePay Nigeria Limited, Dr. Amaechi Ndili, said the company provides the core platform for enrolment, provider and member management, administration and payment.
She expressed her delight at the launch of the Kwara scheme and welcomed Kwarans to the growing number of Nigerians registered on the CarePay platform.
According to her, CarePay is the platform of choice for public and private health schemes across Africa.
She added that it provides digital connectivity between health scheme members, healthcare providers and health insurers.
Ndili said, “The platform enables real-time payment, medical and financial data collection and transmission which ensures that schemes run efficiently, transparently, and seamless in the best interest of all stakeholders.
“CarePay currently connects 400,000 registered health scheme members in Nigeria to 250 healthcare providers while across Africa it has 4,500,000 registered health scheme members connected to over 3,500 healthcare providers.”
