Wike loses at Supreme Court.

Trouble came in two-fold for Nyesom Wike, Governor, Rivers state in a week, as he lost the bid to nullify the sitting of the Rivers State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday threw out Wike’s bid to declare the sitting of the Tribunal in Abuja as being against the law.

Wike had approached the apex court to challenge the sitting of the tribunal in Abuja instead of Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The election tribunal last Saturday nullified Wike’s election and ordered a re-run.

The apex court said the President of the Court of Appeal acted in line with the law and that the relocation of the tribunal to Abuja was to safeguard the lives of the tribunal chairman and members.

The court affirmed the judgement of the Court of Appeal, which had earlier okayed the decision of the Tribunal to assume jurisdiction.
