The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday applauded the judgment of the Court of Appeal affirming the election of Douye Diri as Governor of Bayelsa State.
The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the judgment is a victory to rule of law and the genuine will of the people of Bayelsa State.
The party congratulated the people of Bayelsa, noting the celebration which erupted in the state after the judgment is a testimony that justice was upheld and that Diri was indeed the choice of the people
It added that just like other governors elected on the platform of the PDP, Diri hit the ground running in the task of developing Bayelsa State, outlining his projects in key sectors of the economy such as manufacturing, agriculture, oil and gas, power, road infrastructure, education, among others, despite the prevailing fiscal challenges.
It, therefore, urged Diri not to relent but continue in his commitment towards the good of all and in line with the manifesto of the PDP.
