PDP Raises Alarm Over Voters’ Intimidation
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) alleged on Saturday that thugs sympathetic to one of the leading political parties, have been scaring and intimidating voters during the ongoing Ondo State governorship election.
It identified the areas to include Polling Unit 2, Ward 6, Akure South and Oke Ijebu Ward 4.
The party alleged that the thugs shot into the air and forced electorate to vote for the candidate of one of the leading political parties.
It said, “In Akure South, Ward 6, Polling Unit 2, thugs are shooting into the air to scare voters away from the polling unit. @PoliceNG and other security agents, please take note.
“In Oke Ijebu Ward 4, thugs are intimidating voters with guns and forcing them to vote for a ‘particular candidate.’ @PoliceNG and other security agents, please take note.”
It also accused a prominent royal father in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state of unleashing thugs on some streets in Ugbo, Ilaje Constituency 1.
It alleged that the thugs chased away voters from the community.
It urged the Nigeria Police and the Independent National Electoral Commission to take note.
