Looting Spree: Hoodlums Break Into Abuja NYSC Camp

Suspected hoodlums on Tuesday stormed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Camp in Kubwa in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the hoodlums vandalised the NYSC Camp, looting food items, beds, motorcycles, vehicles, home appliances, and furniture.

InsideBusiness gathered that some policemen watched helplessly as the hoodlums broke into offices and rooms in the camp removing whatever items they could lay hands on.

The attack on the Kubwa’s NYSC Camp is coming barely 24 hours after the Minister of the FCT, Muhammad Bello, gave a marching order on the arrest of the hoodlums who looted the COVID-19 palliatives warehouse in Gwagwalada Area Council on Monday.

Bello gave the order during an emergency security meeting on Monday with leaders of various security agencies in the city.

“What is going on is no longer #EndSARS protest but broad day stealing by hoodlums,” Bello said.

InsideBusiness recalls that the Federal Government had on October 15 directed all NYSC camps to reopen from November 10.

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, issued the directive.

He said, “The Resumption of the NYSC Orientation Camp for prospective Youth Corpers has been approved and opens on November 10th, 2020. Full COVID-19 Protocols will be enforced.”

The Federal Government had ordered the closure of the NYSC orientation camps nationwide over coronavirus fears on March 18.
