Stanbic IBTC, Union Bank, First Bank, UBA Top Gainers Chart
The three days losing streak of the Nigeria Stock Market was halted on Tuesday following appreciation of equities.
The market was lifted by the surge in the trading of the banking sector, which was dominated by FBN Holding, Stanbic IBTC, Union Bank, Access Bank and UBA Group.
The rise in trading saw the All Share Index (ASI) appreciating by 0.65 percent to close at 34,340.56 basic point as against 34,121.78 basic point it recorded the previous day.
In the same vein, the equity capitalisation grew by N114 billion or 0.65 percent to close at N17.943 trillion in sharp contrast to N17.829 trillion it recorded on Monday.
Also, the market turnover decreased in volume of shares as investors traded in 365.413 million shares at N4.691 billion in 6,325 deals, unlike the 568.036 million shares worth N7.326 billion in 8,928 deals on Monday.
The market breath was positive with 37 gainers compared with 15 losers.
Fidson Healthcare Plc and Eternal Plc dominated the losers’ chart in percentage terms, shedding 9 percent to close at N4.87 and N4.15 per share respectively.
Julius Berger dipped by 8.95 percent to close at N17.3 per share, while UAC Nigeria declined by 3.77 percent to close at N7.65 per share. Also, Guinness Nigeria Plc depreciated by 2.78 percent to close at N17.5 per share.
On the flip side, Stanbic IBTC and Union Bank led the gainers’ chart in percentage terms with 7 percent to close at N42.35 and N5.90 per share respectively.
Also, UBA Group and FBN Holding rose by 6 percent to close at N8.20 and N7.15 per share respectively, while Access Bank grew by 5.70 percent to close at N8.35 per share.
The transaction activity chart was led by By Zenith Bank trading 71.933 million shares at N1.730 billion. Followed by Transcorp which sold 37.172 million worth of shares at N3.853 billion.
Guaranty Trust Bank traded 30.003 million shares worth N1.022 billion, while Access Bank followed with 29.549 million shares worth N243.311 million. Also, UBA Group sold 29.332 million shares at N236.303 million.
