Amid N92.708bn Dip, GTB Toast of Social Media, UBA Up 4.14% In 24 Hours Trading
The market capitalisation of Guaranty Trust Bank, (GTB) dropped N92.708 billion representing 8.75 per cent fall on the beginning of a new week on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).
Despite the dip and other challenges, the orange-coloured sit atop the social media ranking, garnering 8, 396, 924 followers to lead the Nigerian banking sector and signposting its acceptance in the nation’s financial system
The Bank opened transaction on Monday at a market capitalisation of N1.059 trillion and fell to N966.814 billion at the close of trading on the start of new week. Despite the dip, GTB maintains its leadership position as the bank with the largest market share on the NSE.
Check by InsideBusinessNG also shows that its share price also dropped by N3.15. It opened trading at N36 per share but closed at N32. 85 per share. It outstanding shares, however, stands at 29,431,179,224.
On the other hand, Monday’s trading saw the shares of United Bank for Africa (UBA) leapt by 4.14 per cent, taking its market capitalisation to N300. 954 billion from N288.985 billion.
Remarkably, UBA gained N11.969 billion after the close of trading on Monday. Its share price rose from N8. 45 per share to N8. 8 per share, indicating 4.14 per cent growth. It outstanding shares is at 34,199,421,368.
Meanwhile, GTB has emerged the most followed Nigerian bank on social media with 1,676,773 followers on Twitter according to figures by the global list of top 100 banks in English speaking countries leveraging social media for their business. In the third quarter of 2019 which the report covered, GTB came top amongst Nigerian financial institutions.
The report shows that GTB has 720,151 on Instagram and over 6 million followers on Facebook.
Zenith BANK trails with 1,324,373 followers on Twitter, 494,838 followers on Instagram, and 6,087,385 followers on Facebook.
In third position is UBA with 817,196 followers on Twitter, 318,686 followers on Instagram and 2.8 million followers on Facebook.
First Bank: holds the fourth spot with 579,996 followers on Twitter, 697,801 on Instagram, and over 2.8 million on Facebook
While Access Bank concludes the top five banks leveraging social media in Nigeria with 1,324,373 followers on Twitter, 494,838 followers on Instagram, and over 2.6 million followers on Facebook
