Stock Market Bearish, Dips N119bn
Trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed bearish when the All-Share Index and Market Capitalization lost 0.57 percent.
The ASI dropped 226.26 index point to close at 39,267.11 basis point from the 39,493.37 basis point it opened transaction with.
Also, the market capitalisation fell by N119 billion from N20.663 trillion the previous trading session to N20.544 trillion. 336.125 million shares valued at N3.268 billion in 4,394 deals exchanged hands, while the market breadth came out positive with 13 laggard equities and 22 advanced stocks.
Livestock Feeds led the gainers’ chart in percentage parameters, gaining 9.66 per cent to close at N1. 93 Kobo per share.
Courtville Business Solutions Plc rose by 9.09 percent to close at N0.24 Kobo per share, while Cornerstone Insurance Plc. climbed 9.09 percent to close at N0. 60 Kobo per share.
NPF Microfinance Bank Plc and Royal Exchange Plc appreciated by 8.33 and 7.69 percent to close at N1.95 and N0. 28 per share respectively.
On the flip side, Regency Assurance Plc dominated the laggard equities in percentage terms, dipping by 9.09 percent to close at N0. 30 Kobo per share.
Prestige Assurance Plc declined by 8.89 percent to close at N0. 41 per share, while Daar communications lost 8 percent to close at N0. 23 Kobo per share.
In the same vein, Ecobank Transnational Incorporation (ETI) shed 4.72 percent to close at N5. 05 Kobo per share, while Sovereign Trust Insurance plunged by 4.17 percent to close at N0. 23 Kobo per share.
The market activity chart was led in volume by the Union Bank of Nigeria, trading at 78.889 million shares worth N418. 139 million, while Guaranty Trust Bank Plc was the most valuable stock at N955.088 million.
