Champions Breweries, John Holt, Honeywell Trigger NGX Fall By N12bn
Champions Breweries Plc, Honeywell Flour Plc and John Holt Plc were among the biggest losers on the commencement of trading for the month of June on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) Tuesday.
The NGX on Monday closed May with a 0.47 percent gain to end the nine consecutive days of bearish trend of the market.
But during Tuesday’s trading session, the ASI shed 23.51 index point or 0.06 percent to close at
38,414.37 basis point down from
38,437.88 basis point.
Also, the market capitalisation fell by N12 billion or 0.06 percent to close at N20.022 trillion from its opening at N20.034 trillion.
The market turnover increased by 36.2 percent, as investors bought and sold 274. 852 million shares worth N 2,632 billion in 4,159 deals, compared to 201.857 million shares worth N2.119 billion in
3,827 deals traded the previous trading session.
The market breadth returned positive with 18 gainers compared to 17 losers, as against 22 laggard stocks and 17 advanced equities on Monday.
The gainers’ chart was led in percentage terms by Morison Plc, rising by 9.57 percent to close at N1. 03 Kobo per share.
Coronation Insurance Plc rose by 9.43 percent to close at N0. 58 Kobo per share, while University Press Plc surged by 9.40 percent to close at N1. 28 Kobo per share.
Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc and Regency Assurance Plc jumped 9.09 and 8.89 percent to close at N0. 72 Kobo and N0. 49 Kobo per share respectively.
On the flip side, the losers’ table was dominated in percentage by Champions Breakfast Plc, losing 9.91 percent to close at N1. 91 Kobo per share
John Holt Plc and Africa Prudential Plc dipped by by 7.94 and 7.26 percent to close at N0. 58 Kobo and N5.75 Kobo per share respectively.
Also, Honeywell Flour Plc and Chams Plc declined by 6.61 and 4.76 percent to close at N1.13 Kobo and N0. 20 Kobo per share respectively.
UAC Property was the NGX most active stock at 23.97 million shares worth N14.366 million, while Zenith Bank closed as the most valuable equity at N470. 701 million
