Copterjet CEO Says Aviation Sector Requires Public, Private Alliance To Grow.
The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Copterjet International, Victor Tommiwa Olorunyo has urged a public and private sector alliance to grow the aviation sector and ultimately, the economy.
Speaking on Thursday in Lagos at the formal launch of Copterjet International- an Aviation company that provides advisory solution, Aircraft sale and maintenance, Asset management, focus logistics services, infrastructural development and support, Tommiwa Olorunyo said the current time has made it compelling for the two sectors to work together and utilise the benefits derivable from Aviation value chain.
Olorunyo who noted that the newly launched Aviation company will reset the Nigerian Aviation sector and take it to an enviable height in the continent also pledged to key into broad initiatives that would benefit Nigerians.
“As we all know, we cannot do this alone and we have assembled a team of experts within the Nigerian Aviation industry and globally. Copterjetdid not just come out of the blues but divinely built.
“We believe that we will be able to achieve our goals with everyone in this journey.. Agreed that the government has a part to play, private sector participation is critical to achieve sustainable growth and development and that is why we have come together as stakeholders. As we all know, Aviation is an economic enabler and a catalyst that is required for economic transformation. Little wonder why we see small developed countries invest so much in their Aviation sector.
He added that Copterjet has discovered the growth potential in the sector adding that with the necessary support and the right policy framework, private sector driven initiatives are tools needed to drive a robust economy.
Buttressing this, Olorunyo said the contribution from the aviation sector today surpasses accruals from the oil and gas sector as exemplified by the example of the United Arab Emirates that has transformed from an oil dependent economy to a more robust economy due to its investment in the Aviation and the tourism sectors.
“As a nation and as an entity, we believe that if we must drive the industry to sustain the economy sustainably, we must begin to engage collaborative initiatives that will position the industry and the nation for economic posterity.
He explained that the needed growth that is required is achievable if everyone puts in their best, utilises the benefits derivable from Aviation value chain to propel the other sectors of the economy so that a new dawn will emerge in the aviation industry, and the Nigerian economy as a whole in the next five, ten to fifteen years.
The leadership of Copterjet is diversified, having brought in people from different cultures, backgrounds and nationalities in a bid to have a strong and robust team. This, Olorunyo said, will be leveraged to drive most of its initiatives including domestication of competencies, enhancing local capacities and infrastructural growth in the Aviation industry.
Also speaking, the National Association of Aircraft Pilot and Engineers (NAAPE), Engr Galadima Abedenigo said, Copterjet International will close the gaps in the industry with its array of services that include Air brokerage to Aviation consulting, leasing, asset management and infrastructure development.
He added, “The industry more than ever before needs more cash inflow and Copterjet would help to gain start with a number of young Nigerians that want to invest in the Aviation sector where liquidity has always been a problem. Copterjet will provide the solution. with leasing and other consulting services. As you can see from the logo of Copterjet, they are coming with open arms. Together we rise as they agree to support us as an industry, a nation and together we will rise. The company will give us the opportunity which we wouldn’t have been able to achieve.”
“At NAAPE, we have always encouraged investment in the industry because we know that it will normally open business opportunities, create more jobs and put smiles on the faces of Nigerians. So, we encourage it. We kno that the sky is big enough to accommodate everybody as long as you have what it takes. So go and spread the good news that there is a new kid on the blocks in the Aviation industry and surely, Copterjet is here to stay.”
