International Breweries, Unity Bank Dip Amid NGX’ N20bn Gain
International Breweries Plc and Unity Bank Plc recorded losses on the floor of the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), while Guaranty Trust Holding Company was the most valuable equity with 17.99 million units of shares worth N457.21 million.
Overall, the NGX closed bullish as the All-Share Index gained 39.84 index points or 0.09 percent to close at 42,357.36 points up from
42,317.52 points posted the previous trading session.
Also, the market capitalisation rose by N20 billion, representing 0.09 percent to close at N22. 10 trillion compared to its opening value of from N22.08 trillion.
The rise of the market was buoyed by appreciation in the shares of medium scale enterprises. Amongst which are ; Redstarex Plc, Meyer Plc,, Japaul Gold Plc, UPDC Credit and African Prudentials.
A total of 226.179 million units of shares valued at N2.632 billion in 3,476 deals were traded on the Nigerian Bourse.
The market breadth returned positive with 19 stocks advancing as against 13 declining equities, compared to 18 laggard companies and 13 gainers the previous day.
The gainers’ chart was led in percentage terms by
Redstarex Plc, gaining 7.94 percent to close at N3.40 kobo per share.
Meyer Plc and Japaul Gold Plc rose by 7.69 and 5.41 percent to close at 42 kobo and 39 kobo per share respectively.
UPDC Credit Plc also saw its stock jumped by 4.35 percent to close at N1. 20 kobo per share, while
African Prudentials Plc climbed by 4.10 percent to close at N6. 35 kobo per share.
On the flip side, the losers’ table was led in percentage terms by E-tranzact Plc, declining by 9.57 percent to close at N1. 89 kobo per share.
Similarly, Royal Exchange Plc dipped 4.76 percent to close at 60 kobo per share, while Cutix Plc fell
4.21 percent to close at N2.50 kobo per share.
Also, International Breweries Plc and Unity Bank Plc declined by 4.08 and 2.13 percent to close at N4. 70 kobo and 46 kobo per share respectively.
