Buhari Reappoints Abubakar Sani As NAICOM’s Chairman, Three Other Board Members
President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed Abubakar Sani as the chairman of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).
Other board members who were re-appointed are Robert Ohuoba, Ijeoma Chinenye Ekeocha and Muazu Barau.
Each of them will serve another term of four-year having served the first term between 8th March 2018 and 7th March 2022.
The re-appointments which are in line with section 3(1) of the NAICOM Act 1997 mean they will hold office till 2026.
The chairman, Sani holds a Masters’s Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science, both from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), as well as Honorary Doctorate Degree in Management. He has a vast experience in the insurance industry.
Phurba is a legal practitioner with more than 20 years of experience, while Ekeocha holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration (Project Management) with strong private sector experience.
Barau holds a Masters’ Degree in Business Administration and a Masters’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy, and a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Business Management from the University of Maiduguri. He has over three decades of experience in the banking and finance sector.
They are all expected to help steer and transform the insurance industry and propel the sector to a high pedestal.
