EU Seeks Increased Supply Of Nigeria’s LNG

As the effects of the Ukrainian conflict bite harder in the energy sector, European Union (EU) has sought the increase Nigeria’s Liquefied Natural Gas to the continent.

Nigeria is the fourth gas supplier to Europe and currently exports at least 40 per cent of her LNG to the continent.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 and the price of oil has since gone up.

At a meeting of the EU Ambassadors with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd Monday, the EU Ambassador in Nigeria, Samuela Isopi, said they possible increase the supplies of Lithefied Natural Gas LNG) to cushion the liquefied current geopolitical in Europe.

“. We are not only major clients for Nigeria, we are also major partners in the Oil & Gas but Sector because some of the companies that are working with you are from Europe. So we share the same interest and same objectives,” Ambassador Isopi added.

Mele Kyari assured the European delegation that the Company would continue to deepen its historical relationship with EU companies in Nigeria in order to add more value to its business, pto towards increasing gas supply to the global market and enhancing domestic gas utilisation.
