Equities Market Bullish, Gains N181.72bn
Investors on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) reaped bountifully as stocks closed bullish on the bourse on Tuesday.
The All-Share Index (ASI) rose 337.08 index points or 0.72 per cent to close at 47,205.03 points up from 46,867.95 points.
Remarkably, the market capitalization which measures the total value of all listed equities on the Nigerian Bourse appreciated by N181.725 billion representing 0.72 per cent to currency stand at N25.448 trillion up from N25.266 trillion.
The bullish trend of market indices was impacted by rise in the stock value of Cap Plc, Neimeth Pharmaceuticals Plc, Berger Paints, Meyer Plc and Learn Africa Plc.
The market turnover increased by 9.25 per cent, with a total of 245.42 million shares worth N4.58 billion in 5,832 deals compared to , Monday when investors bought and sold 224.643 million units of shares N3.82 million in 5,946 deals.
The market breadth remained positive with 31 gainers and seventeen losers as against 32 stocks rising while thirteen declined the previous day.
Among the top gainers in percentage parameter on the NGX during Tuesday’s trade was Cap Plc, with the firm rising 10 per cent to close at N19.80 kobo per share.
Likewise, Neimeth Pharmaceuticals Plc and Berger Paints Plc gained 9.86 per cent and 9.68 per cent to close at N1.56 kobo and N6. 80 kobo per share respectively.
Similarly, Meyer Plc jumped 9.68 per cent to close at N1. 36 kobo per share,, while Learn Africa Plc rose 9.52 per cent to close at N2. 07 kobo per share.
Conversely, the losers’ table was led in percentage terms by Academy Press Plc, as the company dipped 10 per cent to close at N1. 44 kobo per share.
In the Same vein, Caverton Plc declined by 9.92 to close at N1.18 kobo per share, while Royal Exchange Plc shed 9.62 per cent to close at N0. 94 kobo per share.
Also, Linkage Assurance Plc lost 7.55 per cent to close at N0. 49 kobo per share, while Prestige Assurance depreciated by 6.98 per cent to close at N0. 40 kobo per share.
For the second consecutive trading session, Guaranty Trust Holding Company (GTCO) Plc closed as the most active and valuable equity as the lender transacted a total of 39.09 million units of shares worth N908.92.
