TCN Gets N1.4 billion Equipments Funding To Boost Supply
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has secured fresh N1.4 billion for equipment procurement from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to boost electricity supply across the country.
The TCN seems in dire need of new equipment following frequent grid collapse witnessed in weeks.
The Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, disclosed this after council’s meeting presided by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja, noting that two memos were presented from the ministry of power for the TCN
He said that the first approval was a variation of the sum of a contract for 132/33 KV substation at Kafanchan, Kaduna State, with a KV line base extension at Jos substation, in Plateau State, noting that this was in the sum of N132. 7million.
The second approval was for the supply of handling equipment and operational vehicles also for the Transmission Company of Nigeria at the cost of N1.3 billion.
Aliyu explained: “The second memo was for the supply of handling equipment, haulage and operational vehicles for the TCN at N1,338,159,080.88.
They are heavy lifting equipment that the TCN requires for doing its work in the store and on the field, while changing equipment and moving transformers.”
