Lafarge Africa Shares Rise 5.28% As Board Approves New Director
The shares of Lafarge Africa Plc went up by 5.28 per cent on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) as the Board of Directors approved the appointment of Kaspar Theiler as Non-Executive Director.
The Company’s shares gained N1.35 kobo in share value or 5 .28 per cent to close at N26. 9 kobo per share from its opening rate of N25.55 kobo per share.
Similarly, the market capitalisation of the industrial goods giant jumped by 5.28 per cent or N21.745 billion to close at N433.299 billion from N411.554 billion recorded in the previous trading session.
During Monday’s trading session on the NGX, Lafarge Africa transacted a total of 17.643 million units of shares worth 471.247 million while its outstanding shares are kept at 16,107,795,496.
Meanwhile, Lafarge Africa Plc has announced the appointment of Kaspar Theiler as Non-Executive Director following the resignation of Marco Licata.
In a statement, Lafarge said Kaspar Theiler comes to the role with adequate industry experience.
“We hereby notify Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public of the resignation of Marco Licata as a Director of Lafarge Africa Plc (the Company) with effect from 5th April 2022. Licata was appointed to the Board on 21st July 2019 and served as a Non-Executive Director of the Company until his resignation.
“We would like to thank Licata for his immense contributions to the growth of the Company and wish him the best in his future endeavours,” the company added.
Further to Licata’s resignation, we are pleased to announce that the Board has approved the
appointment of Kaspar Theiler as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 20th April 2022.
Kaspar Theiler (Swiss) is the Regional General Counsel, Middle East and Africa (MEA) at Holcim Group. Kaspar joined the Holcim Group in 2016 as a Senior Legal Counsel and also served as General Counsel, Holcim Trading, before he was appointed Regional General Counsel MEA in April 2022.
Kaspar Theiler holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Lucerne, Switzerland, Master of Arts in Banking, Corporate, Finance and Securities Law from Universität St. GallenHochschule für Wirtschafts-, Rechts- und Sozialwissenschaften in 2008 and a Master of Laws in Common Law from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2014.
Kaspar has extended experience in commercial law, mergers and acquisitions, financing, corporate governance and stakeholder management. Beyond the law, Kaspar also has a keen interest in technology and holds a Certificate in HTML, CSS and JavaScript programming from École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne.
