Klopp Consoles Chelsea After Defeat
After the defeat of Chelsea in the F.A cup final, Liverpool coach, Jurgen Klopp has penned an emotional message, consoling the defeated club.
He said that it was heartbreaking but in every game, there has to be a winner but it was unfortunate that Chelsea had to be the loser.
“It is heartbreaking, to be honest for Chelsea, In a shootout, there must be a loser and they are unlucky again”. He said.
Klopp also stated that “It was an incredible, intense game against Chelsea – they would have deserved the win exactly the same way, like in the Carabao Cup – that’s how small the margins are.
‘I couldn’t be more proud of my boys, the shift they put in, how hard they fought, early changes.
‘All of these things, missing good chances, overcoming good moments from Chelsea, then having really good moments ourselves.
‘Then in the penalty shootout, it was nerve-racking, my nails are gone but I really feel for Chelsea – for the second time, 120 minutes and you get nothing, that’s too hard. But for us, I’m pretty happy.
‘We are mentality monsters but there were mentality monsters in blue as well – it was one penalty. Chelsea played outstanding but in the end, there must be one winner and that was us today.’ he added.
As gathered, the F.A cup final between Chelsea and Liverpool was the 150th anniversary of the two clubs playing together, In regards to this, the winners were given a special medal having 150 well-carved dots on it.
While it was a painful day for the Blues, Liverpool’s hopes of securing a historic quadruple are still very much alive after they repeated their EFL Cup final win in February
Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga was said to have missed from the spot earlier in the season and it was Cesar Azpilicueta and Mason Mount this time, with Tsimikas scoring the decisive penalty in the 6-5 win.
Both clubs had chances to win the game in normal time – Marcos Alonso hit the crossbar while Luis Diaz and Robertson both struck the post but the 141st FA Cup final went to penalties and Liverpool emerged victorious as they moved a step closer to securing the quadruple.
FA Cup and EFL Cup holders Liverpool are still in the Premier League title race and will face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League final at the end of the month.
Chelsea have now become the only team to lose three consecutive F.A Cup finals.
