Twitter Circle Reportedly Starts Rolling Out To Wider Audience

Twitter started testing Circle, an alternative to Instagram’s Close Friends feature, on its platform earlier this month. Initially, the company rolled out the feature to a limited number of Twitter users. Now it seems that the company is expanding it to a wider audience.

Circle, for those who don’t know, is similar to Instagram’s Close Friends feature that allows users to limit their audience. Basically, it lets users create a group of people and share the post (tweet) with the group instead of all the followers.

Twitter spgaokesperson Joseph Nunez has confirmed to The Verge that the feature is still in the testing phase and hasn’t been rolled out widely to all the users. The company is still testing the feature with users on iOS, Android and Web globally. The company is collecting feedback from users.

As mentioned, Twitter Circle is currently available to a select number of users and it is possible that the feature is not available for you right now. In case you want to check whether you’ve received the update, follow the steps below.

Update the Twitter app to its latest version from the respective app store and then open the app or head to the Twitter website. Start composing a new tweet. A new dropdown will appear with ‘Everyone’ written on it. Click on the dropdown to select the Circle option.

You’ll also find an Edit button that let users edit the contacts in the Circle. Also, Twitter does not notify users that they have been removed or added to the Twitter Circle. Also, tweet postest in Circle will carry a ‘Circle-only’ tweet tag. Currently, the Circle limit is limited to 150 users including followers and non-followers.
