Stock Market Index Sheds 0.12% On Price Losses
The Nigerian equities market was bearish on Thursday as the Exchange’s All-Share Index (ASI) dipped by 0.12 per cent.
The ASI, which opened at 50,014 on Thursday, closed at 50,014.
The market capitalization also depreciated by N32.83 billion or 0.12 per cent to close at N26.98 trillion from the previous N27.01 trillion.
A total of 109.06 million shares valued at N2.26 billion were traded in 4,034 deals on Thursday against the 279.22 million shares valued at N2.08 billion traded in 3576 deals on Wednesday.
The marginal decline of the index was due the fall in the prices of medium and small equities like Nahco Plc, FCMB Plc, Ikeja Hotel Plc, Multiverse plc and Courtvill Plc.
ABC Transport (-6.67%) led 20 others on the price losers’ table to close at N0.28 kobo per share.
Jaiz Bank lost 5.56 per cent to close at N0.85 kobo per share, while Stanbic IBTC fell by N28.05 kobo per share.
NAHCO (+10.00 per cent) led 20 price gainers to close at N5.83 kobo per share.
FCMB Plc gained 9.84 per cent to settle at N3. 35 kobo per share, while Ikeja Hotel Plc surged 9.43 per cent to close at N1. 16 kobo per share.
Multiverse Plc and Courtvill Plc rose 9.22 per cent and 8.51 per cent to settle at N2.25 kobo and N0.51 kobo per share, respectively.
