2022 World Cup: Blame Rudiger For Germany Loss To Japan, Hamann

Antonio Rudiger’s excessive showboating cost the team the maximum points against Japan, according to former Germany international Dietmar Hamann.

In their World Cup opener on Wednesday, the European giants were humbled by Japan 2-1.

As Germany led 1-0, Rudiger showedboated with a bizarre running style to clear the ball.

Hamann, however, called the former Chelsea defender’s gesture ill-timed, unprofessional and arrogant.

“Rudiger knows he’s going to run the ball out of play and he lifts up his legs,” Hamann told RTE.

“You don’t belittle the opposition because it always comes back at some stage.

“I think it was very unprofessional. I think it was out of order. Arrogant. There’s no defence for it whatsoever.”
