Hotels, small businesses get increased patronage with Kogi Guber Poll

Hospitality sector in Lokoja, Kogi Capital appears the most beneficiary of today’s governorship election as the influx of people to the state has increased patronage and room occupancy.

The state since monday has been receiving visitors including security personnel, politicians, election observers and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for today’s election.

Visit to some hotels in the city shows increased room occupancy while visitors that arrived late on Friday had to look for accommodation on the outskirts and neighboring towns.

Halims Hotels and Towers, Lokoja, and Ibito-Capital Hotel, near the Christian Corpers Lodge also in Lokoja recorded upsurge in patronage.

Restaurants, road-side food sellers, operators of small scale businesses, including hawkers of sachet water, petty traders and other consumable items in various parts of the state are also making brisk business owing to the deluge of visitors and voters who came to vote

Abigail Aliu, who runs a restaurant on Marine road, Lokoja, said the “the profit I am making daily has tripled my weekly income”

‘’For the past three days that Lokoja has witnessed influx of visitors as a result of this governorship election, my restaurant has been booming with customers,‘’ she said.
