The Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has unveiled new products to promote NASENI in the market.

The products presented to the media at the Agency’s headquarters in Abuja on Thursday included a NASENI Laptop, a NASENI Android smartphone, a NASENI Lithium battery, and a NASENI 300-watt LED Solar Street Lamp.

Halilu, who briefed the media on the Agency’s activities and achievements in line with NASENI Strategic Launchpad, disclosed that some of the products are already in the market, and others have been pre-booked for the rest of the year.

He also recalled that the Agency had unveiled its Solar Irrigation System, Electric Keke, Electric Motorcycle and Solar-powered Cargo Tricycle earlier in the year during the oversight visit by the Senate Committee on NASENI. He said many people wanted to see a Nigerian national brand and its products in the market, and NASENI is making efforts to ensure that its branded products are in the market.

The EVC/CEO stated that NASENI is the only purpose-built Agency of the Federal Government aimed at domesticating technology, both capital and consumer goods. He said the new management under him has adopted a fast-track approach and is fully interested in the Technology Transfer and Commercialization of its research and development (R&D) products. All these efforts aim to create jobs and wealth and reduce import bills for the nation.

According to Halilu, the agency has embarked on its 3Cs principles of Creation, Collaboration and Commercialization with both public and private sector strategic partners to ensure that the agency researches and takes the products to end users.

“We have identified our partners and leverage existing technology to come up with products that are not only competitive but also market-driven. This is to ensure the products’ sustainability. We tell the investors to work with us and support the country’s industrialization efforts. The key thing we do differently is to take our R&D results (products) to the market,” he explained.

Some of the agency’s achievements and ongoing activities highlighted at the briefing included the development of the NASENI Proposal Evaluation Portal, NASENI Growth Hacker, NASENI ERP, NASENI eProcurement, NASENI StemBox, NASENI Innovation Hub, and PICTT, e.g., Delta2 and DeltHer.
