Zanzibar in Tanzania will become the epicentre of African music as it hosts the continent’s most prestigious ceremony, Trace Music Awards 2025 on February 26.
This unmissable event will bring together the greatest talents from Africa and its diaspora for an unprecedented celebration of musical diversity. Among the artists who will light up the stage will be icons such as Rema, Diamond Platnumz, Yemi Alade, Fally Ipupa, Joshua Baraka, Titom & Yuppe and many other renowned artists.

The Trace 2025 Awards will feature artists from more than 30 countries from Africa, South America, the Caribbean, the Indian Ocean and Europe competing in 24 categories, covering a wide range of styles: afrobeat, dancehall, hip-hop, afro-pop, mbalax, amapiano, zouk, kizomba, genge, coupé-décalé, bongo flava, soukous, gospel, rap, raï, kompa, RnB, rumba…
Among the artists set to ignite the stage, Tanzania will be proudly represented by Diamond Platnumz, Alikiba, Zuchu, Marioo, Nandy, Abigail Chams, and Young Lunya.
Ivory Coast will showcase iconic figures such as Didi B, Josey, Tamsir, KS Bloom, Team Paiya, and HIMRA, delivering unforgettable performances. From the DRC, Fally Ipupa, Innoss’B, and Gaz Mawete will take the spotlight, and Nigeria will shine with King Promise, Qing Madi, renowned producer P Priime, and the unmissable Rema and Yemi Alade.
Kenyan music enthusiasts will enjoy a performance by Bien, while Wally Seck will proudly represent Senegal. South Africa will also be in the limelight with Makhadzi and the duo Titom & Yuppe. Additional talents will enrich this lineup, including Sabrina (Cameroon), DJ Moh Green (Algeria), Chelsea Dinorath (Angola), Joé Dwet Filé (France/Haiti), Nesly (Martinique/French Guiana), Barth (Réunion Island), Kenny Haiti (Haiti), and Joshua Baraka (Uganda)!
The great show will have The Compozers as the house band and Sherrie Silver as choreographer
This year’s event promises to be unforgettable, with music, emotion and electrifying performances blending to create a spectacle of the highest calibre. To brighten up each performance, the British group The Compozers, a true Afrobeat reference, will once again be the official band of the evening.
Sherrie Silver is a British choreographer and dancer of Rwandan origin, known for her work promoting African dance. She gained particular prominence as the choreographer of Childish Gambino’s (Donald Glover) This Is America video, which won several awards and generated a lot of buzz in 2018. She will be choreographing the 2025 Trace Awards ceremony.
