Veteran Broadcaster and Business Leader, Christopher Kolade, Dies at 93

Renowned broadcaster, diplomat, and business leader, Dr. Christopher Kolade, has died at the age of 93. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of Thursday.

Born in 1932 in Erin-Oke, Osun State, Kolade was the son of an Anglican missionary. He attended Government College, Ibadan, before proceeding to Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone, where he obtained his higher education.

Dr. Kolade began his professional career as a broadcaster and rose to become the Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation. He later served as Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc and was also Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.

A distinguished academic, Kolade taught corporate governance and human resource management at the Lagos Business School (LBS) and leadership and conflict management at the School of Media and Communication (SMC), both under Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos. He was a member of the university’s Governing Council and later served as its Pro-Chancellor and Chairman. He was also the Chancellor of McPherson University, Ogun State.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kolade was known for promoting transparency and ethics in business. He chaired the Integrity Organisation Ltd GTE and The Convention on Business Integrity Ltd GTE, advocating for honesty and accountability in corporate governance.

Tributes have begun to pour in for the respected statesman, whose contributions to education, business, and public service spanned decades.
