Cardoso To Head Nigeria’s Delegation To World Bank–IMF Annual Meetings In Washington

Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, will lead the country’s delegation to the 2025 World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings scheduled to open on Monday, October 13, in Washington D.C.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Sunday by presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga and made available to Channels Television.

According to the statement, Cardoso will serve as Nigeria’s alternate governor at the meetings, stepping in for the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, who is currently indisposed.

Also on the delegation is the Minister of State for Finance, Doris Uzoka-Anite.

The World Bank announced that major highlights of the Annual Meetings will include the Development Committee Plenary on October 16 and the International Monetary and Financial Committee (IMFC) meetings on October 17.

Other activities will feature regional briefings, press conferences, and high-level discussions on international development, the global economy, and financial markets.
