LAMATA Adjusts Train Schedule Ahead of Massive ‘Experience 2025’ Concert
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced extended operating hours on the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line to accommodate the massive crowds expected for this year’s edition of The Experience, the annual all-night gospel music concert scheduled for Friday, December 5, 2025.
The Experience, hosted every first Friday of December, has grown since 2006 into one of the world’s biggest gospel gatherings, drawing hundreds of thousands of worshippers and featuring leading gospel artists from Nigeria and around the globe. With the event traditionally drawing heavy traffic into Lagos Island, transport authorities say additional train service is necessary to ease movement before and after the concert.
In a statement signed by LAMATA’s Head of Corporate Communication, Kolawole Ojelabi, the agency said the Blue Line will run nearly two hours beyond its usual closing time on Friday.
“The LRMT Blue Line will run longer hours on Friday, December 5, 2025, till 11:43 p.m., beyond its operational closing time of 9:30 p.m.,” the statement said.
LAMATA added that services will also begin much earlier the following morning to support early commuter movement and facilitate the return of concert-goers leaving Lagos Island after the overnight event.
“On Saturday, December 6, 2025, operation will commence at 4:00 a.m., running through 9:30 p.m.,” the agency noted.
The LRMT Red Line will also be available to commuters on Friday, but will maintain its regular peak-period service windows.
“The LRMT Red Line will operate on Friday, December 5, maintaining its exact schedule of 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. – 8:40 p.m.,” LAMATA said, emphasizing that the Red Line does not run on Saturdays.
According to the agency, normal operating hours for both rail lines will resume on Sunday, December 7, 2025.
LAMATA also reminded the public that both the Blue and Red lines remain open to all commuters and encouraged passengers to plan their journeys ahead, comply with station guidelines, and use their Cowry Cards for access.
The agency urged residents attending The Experience 2025 to take advantage of the modified train schedules to ensure safe, smooth, and efficient travel throughout the event weekend.
