Ford Orders Recall of Over 32,000 Vehicles in U.S. Over Power Loss Risk
Ford Motor Company has announced the recall of nearly 32,000 vehicles across the United States following the discovery of a defect that could lead to a sudden loss of drive power, federal safety regulators have confirmed.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a total of 32,160 vehicles are affected by the recall, which was disclosed on Tuesday. The safety agency said the issue stems from a mechanical fault involving the half shaft, which may not be fully engaged with the vehicle’s primary drive unit.
NHTSA warned that the defect could result in reduced or complete loss of propulsion while the vehicle is in operation, significantly increasing the likelihood of a crash. In addition, the agency noted that if the parking brake is not applied, the affected vehicles could roll away when stationary, posing further safety risks to drivers, passengers, and pedestrians.
Ford is expected to notify owners of the affected vehicles and provide repairs at no cost, in line with standard recall procedures. Motorists have been advised to pay close attention to recall notices and ensure their vehicles are inspected promptly to reduce the risk of accidents or injury.
