The Kano State Government has revealed the Cycling Kano 2025 jersey ahead of the event set for Saturday, December 20, highlighting its strong dedication to sports development, youth involvement, and promoting healthy lifestyles throughout the state.
The unveiling ceremony at the office of Sani Musa Danja, Senior Special Adviser to the Kano State Governor on Sports and Youth Development, highlighted the vibrant jersey design and colours that capture Kano State’s rich cultural heritage, unity, and deep love for sports.
Participants will sport the jersey at Saturday’s event, which is set to draw cyclists, sports fans, and spectators from all over the state and beyond.
The initiative fits perfectly with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s inclusive development agenda, as his administration continues to focus on youth empowerment, reviving sports, and promoting healthy lifestyles as essential drivers of social unity and sustainable growth in Kano State.
Speaking at the unveiling, Sani Danja described the Cycling Kano initiative as a key component of the state government’s broader strategy, championed by the Governor to promote grassroots sports development and encourage an active and healthy lifestyle among residents.
“Cycling Kano is more than a sporting event; it is a movement that promotes wellness, discipline, and community bonding. The jersey symbolizes our shared identity and our resolve, under the leadership of His Excellency, to position Kano as a hub for sporting excellence,” he said.
The Kano State Government, led by His Excellency, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended sponsors, partners, and stakeholders for their invaluable support in making the event a reality and urged residents to turn out in large numbers to participate and cheer on the cyclists.
Saturday’s event is scheduled to commence at 7:00 a.m. from the Emir’s Palace, Kano, with adequate security and medical arrangements in place, in line with the Governor’s directive to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all participants.
Cycling Kano is a state-backed initiative of the Abba Kabir Yusuf administration, aimed at promoting cycling as a competitive sport, a means of physical fitness, and an environmentally friendly mode of transportation, while fostering unity and youth empowerment across Kano State.
The 2025 edition of the event, scheduled to hold on Saturday, December 20, 2025, is sponsored by the Kano State Government, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, and NNPC, with additional support from Peak Yogurt and CWAY.
