Major Cabinet Changes in Oyo as Makinde Names New SSG
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has effected a major cabinet reshuffle, relieving the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Olanike Kudirat Adeyemo, of her duties and appointing Professor Musibau Adetunji Babatunde as her replacement.
The changes were announced in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, who said the reshuffle takes immediate effect.
According to the statement, Professor Adeyemo has been asked to step aside as SSG, while Professor Babatunde will now assume the role of the state’s chief administrative officer, coordinating government policies and overseeing the activities of ministries, departments and agencies.
In addition to the change at the SSG’s office, the governor redeployed Temilolu Seun Ashamu from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, in a move aimed at strengthening fiscal planning and economic coordination within the state.
The governor also nominated his Senior Special Assistant on Public Works, Ademola Aderinto, as a commissioner-designate. Aderinto is expected to be forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional requirements.
The cabinet reshuffle is seen as part of Makinde’s ongoing efforts to reinvigorate his administration and enhance service delivery across key sectors of the state government.
