The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced a major reorganisation of the leadership of its Central Coordination Committee for the 2026 National Convention, appointing former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as the new chairman.

The development follows a review of the committee’s earlier composition, which had initially named Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as chairman. Under the revised arrangement, Uzodimma has been reassigned to the position of treasurer of the committee.

In a further shake-up, the ruling party has expanded the membership of the committee from 73 to 90 members, a move aimed at broadening participation and strengthening internal representation as preparations for the convention gather momentum.

Among the newly inducted members is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside other notable party leaders drawn from different geopolitical zones. Party sources said the expansion was intended to ensure wider inclusion of key stakeholders in the planning and execution of the convention.

The APC explained that the restructuring was informed by zoning considerations, internal balancing, and strategic party needs. According to the party, the changes were designed to enhance coordination and efficiency while reflecting the diverse interests within the party ahead of the high-profile national gathering.

The 2026 National Convention is expected to play a critical role in shaping the future leadership and direction of the ruling party, making the composition of its central planning committee a key element of the preparations.
