Tinubu Assures Nigerians of Security Gains at Easter
President Bola Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that ongoing efforts by his administration to tackle insecurity are beginning to yield positive results, despite persistent challenges across parts of the country.
In a personally signed Easter message released on Friday, the President said the Christian celebration serves as a reminder of sacrifice, resilience, and hope—values he noted are relevant to Nigeria’s current realities amid economic and security pressures.
He acknowledged that insecurity remains a major concern but stressed that intensified government actions, including increased funding for security operations and strengthened international partnerships, are producing measurable progress.
According to Tinubu, no nation can achieve sustainable development in an atmosphere of fear, reiterating that peace remains central to his administration’s agenda. He assured citizens that efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities are being reinforced to ensure a safer environment nationwide.
The President commended members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their continued sacrifices, noting that many personnel put their lives at risk daily in the fight against criminal elements. However, he admitted that despite these efforts, security threats have not been completely eliminated.
Tinubu revealed that his government is providing additional resources and leveraging foreign support to strengthen Nigeria’s capacity to confront emerging threats. He added that security chiefs have given assurances of improved outcomes in ongoing operations.
The President’s message followed his recent visit to Jos, where he met with victims and families affected by a deadly attack that claimed several lives. During the visit, he expressed deep sympathy and pledged that such incidents would not recur.
He also addressed a grieving mother featured in a widely circulated video, acknowledging her pain and offering words of comfort, while emphasising that no financial compensation could replace lost lives. Tinubu promised that the government would provide support to affected families and communities.
Reflecting on the situation in Plateau State, the President said the long-term goal is to restore lasting peace and return affected areas to stability. He maintained that his administration remains committed to delivering on its promise of peace and prosperity.
Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain united, support lawful efforts by security agencies, and reject actions or individuals that threaten national cohesion. He reiterated that collective responsibility and unity are essential to overcoming the country’s challenges and building a more secure future.
