Tinubu Inaugurates NRS Headquarters in Abuja

President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday officially commissioned the newly completed corporate headquarters of the Nigeria Revenue Service in Abuja, marking a major milestone in the federal government’s ongoing tax reform agenda.

The inauguration also signifies the formal transition from the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service to the newly restructured Nigeria Revenue Service, following a comprehensive overhaul of the country’s tax administration framework.

During the commissioning ceremony, President Tinubu, speaking in a video shared by his Special Assistant on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, commended the agency’s progress and formally declared the building open for operations.

The president was accompanied by top government officials, including the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service, Zacch Adedeji; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, among others. He was also seen cutting the ribbon to officially unveil the facility before proceeding to sign the commemorative plaque.

The president described the new headquarters as a symbol of institutional strength and accountability, stating that it represents the government’s commitment to transparency and improved revenue generation.

In his words, the building “stands as a lasting symbol of integrity,” underscoring the administration’s intention to strengthen public trust in Nigeria’s revenue system.

According to details shared by Olusegun, the new headquarters is a modern complex comprising 16 floors and three towers, with the capacity to accommodate approximately 3,000 staff members.

The project forms part of broader reforms under the Tinubu administration aimed at restructuring Nigeria’s tax system, improving efficiency, and enhancing revenue collection to support national development priorities.
