Fenerbahce dismiss manager after heavy loss to Galatasaray, ending title hopes as club reshuffles leadership amid growing pressure this season.

Fenerbahce have dismissed manager Domenico Tedesco after a damaging derby defeat that effectively ended their Turkish Super Lig title ambitions.

The club confirmed the decision on Monday, following a 3-0 loss to fierce rivals Galatasaray at the weekend. The result left Fenerbahce seven points behind the leaders with only three matches remaining, making a title comeback highly unlikely. Despite losing just two league games all season, the timing of the defeat proved decisive.

Tedesco only took charge in September on a two-year contract, stepping in after Jose Mourinho departed in August. Mourinho left shortly after the club exited the UEFA Champions League at the playoff stage against Benfica, before later taking over as Benfica manager.

While Fenerbahce struggled in key moments, Tedesco did guide the team to silverware. His side lifted the Turkish Super Cup in January with a victory over Galatasaray. However, their European campaign ended early after a knockout phase playoff exit to Nottingham Forest in the UEFA Europa League.

The club’s response goes beyond the manager. Fenerbahce also parted ways with sporting director Devin Ozek and football coordinator Berke Celebi, signalling a broader reset within the organisation. Assistant coach Zeki Murat Gole will oversee the team for the rest of the season.

The decision highlights ongoing frustration at Fenerbahce, who have not secured a league title since 2014, despite regular challenges near the top.
