FC Barcelona Femení secured a place in the UEFA Women’s Champions League final after defeating Bayern Munich Women 4-2 in a thrilling semi-final second leg clash on Sunday, completing a 5-3 aggregate victory.

The Spanish champions, who are now set to appear in their sixth consecutive final, will face French giants Olympique Lyonnais Féminin, record eight-time winners of the competition. Lyon booked their place in the final after overcoming Arsenal Women in the other semi-final encounter.

Midfielder Alexia Putellas delivered a standout performance, scoring twice to inspire Barcelona to victory in front of a packed home crowd. Goals from Salma Paralluelo and Ewa Pajor further strengthened the hosts’ dominance, despite a spirited challenge from Bayern.

Barcelona made a strong start to the match, taking the lead early through Paralluelo, who finished from close range after connecting with a cross from Caroline Graham Hansen. However, Bayern responded swiftly, with Linda Dallmann equalising on a counter-attack following an assist from Pernille Harder.

The hosts regained control before the break as Putellas capitalised on defensive hesitation to restore Barcelona’s lead. They extended their advantage early in the second half when Pajor headed home, before Putellas added her second goal of the night to put the result beyond doubt.

Bayern continued to press and found the net through Harder, but Barcelona held firm despite late pressure. A stoppage-time goal for the German side was ruled out after a VAR review, ending their hopes of a comeback.

Barcelona, who remain unbeaten in 31 matches, also welcomed the return of star midfielder Aitana Bonmatí from injury, a boost ahead of the final scheduled for May 23 in Oslo.

The result marks another milestone for Barcelona’s dominant women’s team, while Bayern’s impressive 29-match unbeaten run came to an end as they exited the competition at the semi-final stage.
