At least 17 members of the House of Representatives have defected from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), in a fresh wave of political realignments within the National Assembly.

The defections were formally announced during plenary on Tuesday, signaling a shift in party loyalties among lawmakers in the lower chamber.

In a related development, a member of the House, Leke Abejide, also resigned from the ADC and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The lawmakers who moved to the NDC include Yusuf Datti, Uchenna Okonkwo, Adamu Wakili, Thaddeus Attah, George Ozodinobi, Lilian Orogbu, Oluwaseyi Sowunmi, Peter Aniekwe, Mukhtar Zakari, George Oluwande, and Munachim Umezuruike.

Others are Emeka Idu, Jesse Onuakalusi, Ifeanyi Uzokwe, Afam Ogene, and Abdulhakeem Ado.

The announcement during plenary underscores ongoing political shifts within the House as parties reposition ahead of future legislative and electoral activities.

Further details are expected as the development unfolds.
