Students Abducted Near Nasarawa State University

Fear has gripped the Nasarawa State University, Keffi community after suspected gunmen reportedly abducted at least eight students during a midnight attack.

The incident happened around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday near the institution’s Engineering Campus in Gudi. According to eyewitness accounts, the attackers invaded several off-campus student hostels and forcefully took the victims to an unknown destination.

Residents said the armed men operated for several minutes while gunshots and screams filled the area. Many students reportedly hid inside their rooms out of fear as the situation unfolded. The incident has raised fresh concerns about safety around Nasarawa State University and nearby communities.

One source, who asked not to be identified, described the atmosphere during the attack. The source said: “As the sh%oting and shouting were going on, students were crying and hiding in fear. There was no visible security response while the operation lasted.”

The reported abduction has increased tension across the university community, especially as students are currently sitting examinations. Several students and residents have criticised the level of security around the campus and surrounding hostels, saying the area remains vulnerable to criminal attacks.
