Cristiano Ronaldo suffered another setback after Al Nassr drew 1-1 with fierce rivals Al Hilal in a dramatic Saudi Pro League clash. The result kept the Saudi Pro League title race alive and extended Ronaldo’s long wait for major silverware since joining Saudi football in the 2022-23 season.

Defender Mohamed Simakan gave Al Nassr the lead in the 37th minute after smashing home from a corner routine at Alawwal Park in Riyadh. The goal looked enough to secure victory for most of the match as Nassr controlled large periods and created several dangerous chances.

The spotlight remained firmly on Ronaldo, who pushed hard to inspire his side during the tense encounter. The Portuguese forward tested goalkeeper Yassine Bounou with a powerful strike shortly before half-time and continued to threaten throughout the second half. However, he missed a clear opportunity moments after the restart when he sent Kingsley Coman’s cross over the bar.

Former Real Madrid star Karim Benzema also came close for Al Hilal early in the game. He saw one effort saved by goalkeeper Bento, while another header was ruled out after a lengthy VAR review confirmed an offside decision against Sergej Milinković-Savić.

Despite Al Nassr’s pressure, late drama changed the match completely. In stoppage time, Bento collided with defender Inigo Martinez while attempting to claim a long throw. The goalkeeper lost control of the ball, which rolled into his own net and handed Al Hilal a crucial equaliser.

The draw leaves Al Nassr top of the table with 83 points and one match remaining. Al Hilal sits second with 78 points and still has two games to play in the tense Saudi Pro League title race.

Can Ronaldo finally guide Al Nassr to the title on the final day of the season?
