Inter Milan secured the Coppa Italia final with a comfortable 2-0 victory over Lazio on Wednesday to complete an impressive domestic double. The Milan side added the Italian Cup to its newly won Serie A title after another dominant display at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter began the match with confidence following Sunday’s 3-0 league victory against Lazio at the same stadium. The Serie A champions quickly took control and found the opening goal in the 14th minute through an unfortunate own goal from defender Adam Marusic.

The Lazio defender attempted to clear a dangerous corner but instead directed his header into the back of his own net. Inter continued to press forward and nearly doubled the lead shortly afterwards when Denzel Dumfries saw his close-range effort blocked inside the penalty area.

Lazio struggled to contain Inter’s attacking movement throughout the first half, and more defensive mistakes soon proved costly. Ten minutes before the break, Nuno Tavares lost possession deep inside his own half, allowing Marcus Thuram to drive forward before delivering a low cross for Lautaro Martinez to finish from close range.

The second goal gave Inter full control of the Coppa Italia final, while Lazio found it difficult to create clear opportunities. Gustav Isaksen came closest before half-time after his low strike deflected wide from a tight angle.

After the restart, Inter continued to dominate possession and managed the game calmly. Lazio almost reduced the deficit near the hour mark when Tijjani Noslin sent a close-range attempt narrowly wide of the far post.

Despite a few late chances and a brief scuffle between players, Inter comfortably protected its lead to secure a 10th Coppa Italia final triumph and its first Italian Cup title since 2023.

Can Inter Milan carry this winning momentum into next season’s European competitions?
