Makinde Declares 2027 Presidential Bid
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the Allied People’s Movement platform. He also unveiled the Reset Nigeria Movement and a new alliance between the PDP and APM ahead of the polls.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially announced his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election under the platform of the Allied People’s Movement (APM). The declaration came during a major Unity Mega Rally held at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where thousands of supporters and political stakeholders gathered.
The event also featured the unveiling of the Reset Nigeria Movement and a new political alliance between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APM ahead of the next electoral cycle.
The partnership followed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding supervised by Seyi Makinde and APM National Chairman Yusuf Mamman Dantalle. The agreement had earlier been signed at the PDP South-West Secretariat, Soji Adagunodo House, along Old Ife Road in Ibadan.
Speaking during the rally, Makinde said Nigeria requires competent and accountable leadership capable of rebuilding trust in government and strengthening national institutions.
“Nigeria cannot continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions, and create a system that works for all Nigerians,” he stated.
According to the Oyo governor, the Reset Nigeria Movement will focus on economic growth, job creation, healthcare, education, security, infrastructure and power sector reforms. He added that the movement also aims to strengthen democratic institutions and improve governance across the country.
The announcement attracted several political leaders, youth groups, professionals and supporters, including former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, as mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 presidential election begin nationwide.
Makinde’s campaign team also introduced a digital platform featuring a Truth Hub designed to counter misinformation, alongside a Media Resource Centre containing official statements, campaign materials and biographical information.
