Celtic sealed a dramatic Scottish Premiership triumph after scoring twice late on to defeat Hearts 3-1 in Glasgow on Saturday.

The tense victory secured a record 56th league crown and completed an unforgettable Celtic title win. With the match heading towards a draw, Hearts looked ready to claim their first championship in six decades. However, Celtic found another level in the closing moments.

Daizen Maeda struck first to break Hearts’ resistance before Callum Osmand raced clear and finished into an empty net deep into stoppage time. The late goal sparked wild celebrations as supporters flooded the pitch after the final whistle.

This latest Celtic title win marked the club’s 14th league success in the last 15 seasons. Yet this campaign tested the squad more than most. Celtic had remained behind Hearts in the table since October, but the return of Martin O’Neill as interim manager in January transformed the side’s season. The team ended the campaign with seven straight victories.

“This is the most special place on Earth,” said O’Neill, who lifted his fourth league title with the club after his successful spell in the early 2000s.

Full-back Kieran Tierney praised the squad’s mentality after the dramatic finish. “This season has been mental,” he said. “It’s unbelievable. We never give up and this team is the most mentally strong team I’ve ever been involved with. This is the best thing I’ve ever won.”

Captain Callum McGregor also praised O’Neill after another memorable Celtic title win. “He dragged us through time and time again,” he said. “What a season. Everyone wrote us off.”
