Labour Party Announces Chibuzo Okereke for 2027
The Labour Party has adopted Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election. Party officials cited his governance experience, academic credentials and commitment to democratic reforms as key qualities that make him suitable for national leadership.
The Labour Party has selected governance expert Chibuzo Okereke as its presidential candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 election.
The Labour Party, under the leadership of Nenadi Usman, has adopted Chibuzo Okereke as its candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The announcement was made in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, who stated that Okereke emerged through a consensus arrangement.
According to Asogwa, Chibuzo Okereke has established himself as a respected figure in the areas of governance, public policy and institutional reform. He described the candidate as a governance specialist, policy strategist and advocate for meaningful reforms.
The statement highlighted that Chibuzo Okereke currently serves as President of ERGAF-AFRICA Legislative Governance Innovation and Policy Hub, a leading organisation focused on policy research and legislative development. He also works as a legislative consultant to key committees and senior members of the National Assembly.
In addition, Okereke is a resident lecturer in the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Miva Open University, Abuja, where he helps train future public sector professionals and policy experts.
The party noted that the Labour Party candidate holds a PhD in Legislative Governance Studies and a Master’s degree in Public Administration and Legislative Studies. Both qualifications were reportedly earned with distinction.
Asogwa further stated that Okereke’s experience in governance, accountability and national development has earned him recognition as a commentator and analyst on major national and international media platforms.
Beyond his professional work, the party said the Labour Party candidate has remained active in promoting youth empowerment, educational development and democratic reforms. It added that his leadership qualities, academic achievements and commitment to good governance reflect the type of transformational leadership the country needs.
The selection of the Labour Party candidate marks an important step as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 presidential race.
