Jalen Brunson delivered a stunning late performance as the New York Knicks rallied from behind to claim a crucial NBA Finals victory.

The New York Knicks overcame a 14-point second-half deficit to defeat the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 and take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals on Wednesday night. Inspired by a brilliant display from Jalen Brunson, New York produced a determined comeback to seize an early advantage in the best-of-seven championship series.

Brunson finished with 30 points and played a decisive role in the final quarter, scoring 13 points as the Knicks silenced the home crowd in Texas. The star guard also recovered from an early injury scare after leaving the court in the first quarter following a collision that appeared to affect his knee.

Despite trailing 55-48 at half-time and falling 14 points behind during the third quarter, the New York Knicks refused to surrender. Their persistence gradually reduced the deficit before they entered the final period level at 76-76.

The contest remained tightly balanced until the closing minutes. With just over two minutes remaining, the scores were tied before Jalen Brunson took control. A crucial three-pointer restored New York’s lead, and the Knicks followed with eight unanswered points to secure the win.

“Just sticking together — it wasn’t really our night and wasn’t really my night most of the night but we kept finding a way, kept chipping away,” Brunson said.

The NBA Finals opener also featured strong contributions from Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 18 points, while OG Anunoby added 17 and Landry Shamet chipped in with 13.

For San Antonio, Victor Wembanyama led the scoring with 26 points and collected 12 rebounds, although he struggled with his shooting efficiency. Stephon Castle scored 17 points, while Dylan Harper and Julian Champagnie each added 16.

The victory gives the New York Knicks valuable momentum ahead of Game Two on Friday as they continue their pursuit of the NBA championship.
