Alexander Zverev Reaches Second French Open Final

Alexander Zverev has moved one step closer to a first Grand Slam title after beating Jakub Mensik to reach the French Open final at Roland Garros.

The German world number three overcame the 26th seed 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 on Friday in a hard-fought semi-final on Court Philippe Chatrier. The win takes Zverev into another final in Paris as he continues his search for a maiden major crown.

The match began tightly, with both players exchanging strong rallies under clear conditions. Zverev eventually edged the opening set after producing a sharp backhand winner to earn a key break in the 11th game, before closing it out with an ace. The French Open final hope then strengthened as he broke early in the second set, taking control while Mensik struggled to maintain consistency in his first Grand Slam semi-final.

The 20-year-old Czech showed resilience in the third set, despite receiving medical attention for a neck problem. He used his powerful serve and smart drop shots to break for a 4-2 lead and close out the set, briefly shifting momentum in his favour.

However, Zverev responded with composure and intensity. He raised his level in the fourth set, breaking twice and finishing the match with confidence to secure his place in the French Open final.

Zverev, now 29, has previously lost three Grand Slam finals, including one at Roland Garros two years ago. This latest run gives him another chance to end that wait and finally lift a major trophy.

He will face Italian 10th seed Fabio Cobolli in the final after Cobolli advanced when Matteo Arnaldi withdrew due to a viral infection.
