Tamunosoye Karibi-George has secured the Miss World Nigeria title and will represent the country at the global competition in Vietnam.
Tamunosoye Karibi-George, representing Bayelsa State, emerged as Miss World Nigeria 2026 after defeating 19 other finalists at the pageant’s grand finale in Lagos. The 26-year-old beauty queen claimed the national crown during the event held on Saturday at Balmoral Hall, Federal Palace Hotel.
Although she competed on behalf of Bayelsa State, Tamunosoye Karibi-George is originally from Rivers State. Her victory now earns her the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 73rd Miss World Festival, scheduled to take place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, from August 9 to September 5, 2026.
The Miss World Nigeria 2026 competition was held under the theme, “Pride, Power, and Purpose,” with contestants from across the country competing for one of the nation’s most prestigious beauty pageant titles.
Founder of the Silverbird Group and former senator, Ben Murray-Bruce, announced the winner on X and celebrated her achievement.
“WE HAVE A QUEEN! A new chapter begins. Please join us in celebrating TAMUNOSOYE KARIBI-GEORGE, representing Bayelsa State, as the newly crowned Miss World Nigeria 2026!” Murray-Bruce wrote.
Beyond her success in the pageant, Karibi-George received praise for her advocacy work through Beyond Labels, an initiative dedicated to supporting children with special needs. Murray-Bruce highlighted her commitment to promoting inclusion, dignity, and empowerment while creating opportunities for children to reach their full potential.
“Her purpose, poise, intelligence, and passion shone brightly, earning her the honour of wearing the crown and carrying the hopes of a nation.”
As Miss World Nigeria 2026, Karibi-George succeeds Joy Mojisola Raimi, who represented Nigeria at the 72nd edition of the global competition in India and finished among the Top 20 contestants, while also ranking among Africa’s top five representatives.
With preparations for the international contest now underway, many Nigerians will be watching closely as she takes her advocacy and ambitions to the global stage.
Can Tamunosoye Karibi-George build on Nigeria’s recent success and bring home the Miss World crown?
