Tinubu Says Government Will Fix, Not Abandon Problems
Tinubu says his government is committed to completing inherited projects and solving national challenges during a road commissioning in Abuja.
President Bola Tinubu has said his administration is committed to addressing national challenges rather than leaving them unresolved.
President Bola Tinubu has stated that his government inherited several challenges and is focused on solving them instead of abandoning ongoing issues. He made the remarks during the commissioning of the newly completed Airport Expressway to Kuje road, held as part of activities marking his third year in office.
The President was represented at the event by Vice President Kashim Shettima, who said the project reflects the administration’s commitment to completing inherited infrastructure works.
According to Tinubu, the road project demonstrates a promise kept to Nigerians. He said the completion of the highway shows the government’s determination to end the trend of abandoned projects across the country.
“Today we are not just commissioning a road but we are keeping a promise. Three years ago we took an oath to serve you, we pledged to end the era of abandoned projects and today FCT Highway 105 has stood as proof that we keep our words,” he said.
He added that his administration does not “inherit problems to abandon them,” but instead takes on challenges with the intention of resolving them. The President noted that the project was initially awarded in 2022 but recorded limited progress before his government intervened.
Tinubu described the road as a former source of frustration for commuters, citing traffic congestion, dust during dry seasons and flooding during the rainy period.
He also highlighted the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in driving project delivery. According to him, Wike was appointed because of his track record in executing projects.
“Therefore, when I appointed Wike as the FCT Minister, I did so because he delivers and while there were delays he brought political will, while there were obstructions we paid compensations, we respected the law and valued progress,” he said.
The commissioning marks another milestone in the administration’s infrastructure rollout within the Federal Capital Territory.
