Democracy Day: Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Believe in Nation Despite Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday Democracy Day urgeshas called on Nigerians to remain committed to the nation, insisting that citizens should never lose faith in Nigeria despite its challenges.

In his Democracy Day broadcast on Thursday, President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to stay hopeful and contribute to the country’s development. He stressed that while citizens are free to criticise his administration and express differing views, they should continue to believe in Nigeria and its future.

The President directed a special message to young Nigerians, encouraging them to build their futures at home rather than seeking opportunities abroad. According to him, national progress depends on the efforts of citizens who choose to remain and address the country’s challenges.

“Nigeria is your home and your future. Build here, code here, work here, and vote here. Every great nation was built by those who stayed to solve problems, not by those who abandoned ship,” he said.

Tinubu also called on the National Assembly, Judiciary, media and civil society organisations to continue playing their roles in protecting democratic values and holding leaders accountable.

“To our National assembly, Judiciary, the Press and civil society, you are the guard rails of our republic. Criticise me, disagree with me, but never stop believing in Nigeria,” the President stated.

He further commended the armed forces, police, intelligence agencies, traditional rulers, religious leaders and community heads for their efforts in promoting peace and national unity across the country.

According to Tinubu, the greatest way to honour Nigeria’s democracy heroes is to build a nation where freedom is safeguarded, justice prevails, opportunities continue to grow and government remains accountable to the people.
