Real Madrid Agree Deal for Marc Cucurella

Real Madrid have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Spanish defender Marc Cucurella in a deal worth £55 million ($63 million) after the World Cup.

The 27-year-old left-back is expected to make the move to the Spanish giants following a successful spell in England. The proposed Marc Cucurella transfer would see the defender return to Spain after several years away from La Liga. Cucurella developed through Barcelona’s academy before moving to Getafe and later joining Brighton, where his impressive performances earned him a move to Chelsea in 2022.

The reported transfer comes during a busy period for Real Madrid, who are preparing for a new era under returning manager Jose Mourinho. Club president Florentino Perez appointed Mourinho earlier this week after securing re-election in June. The decision followed two consecutive seasons in which Los Blancos failed to win a major trophy.

The Marc Cucurella transfer is expected to strengthen Madrid’s options at left-back as the club continues to reshape its squad. Reports have also linked the Spanish side with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate, who could arrive when his contract expires, while Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries have also been mentioned as potential targets.

For Chelsea, the departure would mark the end of a mixed period for Cucurella at Stamford Bridge. The defender still had two years remaining on his contract and played a role in the club’s success in winning the Club World Cup and UEFA Conference League in 2025.

Chelsea endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing 10th in the Premier League. Cucurella was also reportedly critical of the club’s decision to dismiss Enzo Maresca in January.
