Real Madrid Secure Marc Cucurella Deal

Real Madrid have completed the signing of Marc Cucurella from Chelsea in a transfer reported to be worth 55 million euros (£63.8 million).

The Spanish giants confirmed the agreement on Monday, announcing that the 27-year-old defender will remain at the club until 30 June 2032. In an official statement, Real Madrid said: “Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will join our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.”

The arrival of Marc Cucurella strengthens Real Madrid’s defensive options as the club looks to rebuild after two consecutive seasons without a major trophy. The left-back began his career in Barcelona’s academy before moving to Getafe and later joining Brighton. He signed for Chelsea in 2022 and became a regular figure at Stamford Bridge.

Currently representing Spain at the World Cup, Marc Cucurella is the only Real Madrid player included in coach Luis de la Fuente’s national team squad. His move comes during a busy period for the Spanish club, with president Florentino Perez recently securing re-election and Jose Mourinho taking charge as head coach.

Real Madrid continue to reshape their squad and are expected to add further reinforcements. Reports suggest the club plan to sign Ibrahima Konate when his Liverpool contract expires, while links with Bernardo Silva and Denzel Dumfries have also emerged.

Chelsea endured a difficult campaign last season, finishing 10th in the Premier League. During that period, Marc Cucurella openly criticised the club’s decision to dismiss Enzo Maresca in January. Despite the disappointing league finish, he helped Chelsea win both the Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League in 2025 before completing his move to Madrid.
