The proposed Elliot Anderson transfer would become the highest transfer fee ever paid by a British club if completed. It would surpass the current record of £125 million, which Liverpool paid Newcastle United for Alexander Isak last year.

Reports indicate that Forest turned down two earlier offers from City before reaching an agreement. The 23-year-old midfielder is currently with the England squad in the United States for the FIFA World Cup 2026, although the transfer could be confirmed before the tournament concludes.

Despite the growing speculation, Anderson insisted that his attention remains on international duty rather than his club future.

“It’s pretty easy really, I’m just focusing on the present, I’m blocking it all out,” he said.

“I’ve got a plan and it’s to perform for England. I’m putting myself in the best position to cross the line and do that.”

The Elliot Anderson transfer comes as the midfielder continues to impress for England. He started both of the team’s opening World Cup matches, including the 4-2 victory over Croatia and the goalless draw with Ghana.

England manager Thomas Tuchel recently described Anderson as the “full package” during the squad’s World Cup preparation and expressed confidence that transfer speculation would not affect his performances.

Meanwhile, Manchester City are looking to strengthen their squad after finishing second behind Arsenal in the Premier League last season. Although City missed out on the league title in Pep Guardiola’s final campaign as manager, they lifted both the FA Cup and the League Cup.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, secured Premier League survival with a strong finish after spending much of last season battling relegation.
